In-form filly Lady Of Harrods will bypass a previously planned run this weekend in favour of going straight into Group 1 2012 Thousand Guineas (1600m) on October 17.
Trainer Russell Cameron had nominated the daughter of Dubawi for both the 2012 Vintage Stakes and the 2012 Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington but believes she will be best served without a further lead-up run.
“We’re pretty happy with how she has come through so we’re going to take the punt and go straight into the Guineas,” Cameron said.
“She’s done extremely well, we’re really happy with her but I just feel she might go one too far [if she runs this weekend as well].”
Lady Of Harrods struggled first-up on a heavy track in the Quezette Stakes but since the weather has turned fine she has been in sensational form.
The talented filly won the Group 3 McNeil Stakes ahead of Kabayan and produced a flying finish to run down Commanding Jewel and take out the Group 3 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m).
Lady Of Harrods is yet to be tested beyond 1400m but Cameron is confident she will have no problems making the 1600m trip.
“I feel that she’ll run it out the way we’ve been training her,” Cameron said
Jockey Jamie Mott missed both wins due to suspension but will return to assume the Thousand Guineas ride.
“Jamie will ride her…he’s rapt in her,” Cameron confirmed.
Lady Of Harrods is currently rated a $19.00 chance of winning the Thousand Guineas, with Adelaide filly Molto Bene the $4.80 favourite ahead of Love For Ransom ($6.50) and spruik filly Commanding Jewel ($8.00).
