Bring Me The Maid May Contest 2014 Thousand Guineas

July 30th, 2014

Yet to be confirmed for a specific racing path through the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival, exciting rising three-year-old Bring Me The Maid completed a strong barrier trial at Brisbane’s Doomben Racecourse on Tuesday morning; more than justifying her legitimacy for featured events including the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 11th.

Displaying a keen turn of foot to win the Listed Sports 1000 (1000m) on debut on March 1st, Bring Me The Maid continued to build in class and form on her way to a memorable third in the featured Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) most recently on April 5th.

Partnering the Sebring filly through autumn and at Doomben on Tuesday, up-and-coming jockey Chad Schofield told AAP he is excited by the winning prospects of Bring Me The Maid through spring, regardless of what events she targets.

“She just had a nice quiet trial today but she did everything I wanted her to do,” Schofield said.

“She’s strengthened up a bit and she felt terrific.

“She’s obviously a very talented horse that will be competitive in whatever she runs in.”

Owned by the racing syndicate of Wylie Dalziel and the late, great Roy Higgins, Bring Me The Maid was unlucky to finish third when blocked for a run in the final straight of the Listed St Albans Stakes (1200m) in just her second competitive start on March 29th, but more than stamped her claims as one of the autumn stand-out two-year-olds when comfortably winning the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) on March 29th.

Confirmed to retain the ride on the filly out of Maid For Me for her entire spring campaign, Schofield said he his feeling good after recovering from a neck injury sustained in a fall at Cranbourne in June.

“I feel great on a horse but another two weeks’ work will have me spot-on,” Schofield said.
