Interestingly the only runner confirmed for the 2014 Thousand Guineas to have already taken out a Group 1 event, trainer Leon Macdonald has confirmed Go Indy Go in the final field for the 2014 Thousand Guineas.

Finishing outside the places just once in six competitive starts so far, Go Indy Go was a standout performer over the 2014 autumn racing season and was unlucky to finish second in both the Listed Cinderella Stakes (1050m) and Group 3 Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) on debut.

Charging home to secure a maiden race win in the Group 3 Sires’ Produce Open (1400m) at Morphettville on April 12th, the Bernardini filly completed a near-perfect run to take out the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on April 26th.

Disappointing when failing to beat a single runner home in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) first-up this season, Go Indy Go completed a competitive run for third in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) last time out and appears primed for success in the 2014 Thousand Guineas.

Also performing to a particularly high standard over the 2014 Autumn Carnival, trainer Peter Moody has confirmed Bring Me The Maid in the final field for the 2014 Thousand Guineas.

Charging home to win the Listed Sports 1000 (1000m) on debut on March 1st, Bring Me The Maid was unlucky to be blocked for a run and third in the Listed St Albans Stakes (1200m) on March 14th but responded in the best way possible when winning the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) on March 29th; returning to the paddock after running an impressive third in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

Winning the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) first-up this time, the Sebring filly was unable to find a clear racing line when eighth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) but had no excuses when finishing a disappointing seventh in the Thousand Guineas Prelude most recently.

Confirmed to be partnered by renowned jockey Luke Nolen, Bring Me The Maid is offered a great chance of maiden Group 1 success in the Thousand Guineas from the ideal barrier 4 this weekend.

Arguably the formed filly leading into the Group 1 Thousand Guineas, Afleet Esprit will leave from the ideal barrier 1 with champion jockey Damien Oliver on board.

Winning a minor over 1200m first-up before finishing second in the National Jockeys Celebration Day on August 2nd, Afleet Esprit took out another minor over 1200m on August 23rd before making a successful transition to black type racing in taking out both the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) and Thousand Guineas Prelude.

An outside chance of success in the 2014 Thousand Guineas, Traveston Girl will has been charged with overcoming the wide and awkward barrier 11 at Caulfield on Saturday.

Winning two minor events in her native Queensland over late June and July, Traveston Girl finishing fourth in both the Cap D’Antibes and Thousand Guineas Prelude in her first two Melbourne starts, but will need to find an extra gear if to win this weekend.
