Early 2015 Thousand Guineas Odds and Betting Update

June 23rd, 2015

Won by double-figure odds chance Amicus in 2014, the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) looks like attracting a particularly talent-rich field of three-year-old fillies to Caulfield Racecourse in early October, 2015.

Pasadena Girl ended her Autumn Carnival campaign with success at the highest level over a mile and maintains status as sole occupant of the top line of early 2015 Thousand Guineas betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au at a quote $5.50.

Posting three wins through her four start career so far, the daughter of Savabeel took out each of the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) and Group 3 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) on debut before finishing a credible fourth in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on Day 1 of The Championships.

Having returned to the paddock after charging home to win the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) on April 18th, Pasadena Girl has reportedly taken well to her time away from racing.

English and Fontiton both laid great accounts for themselves through autumn and share the second line of early 2015 Thousand Guineas betting at generous $8 odds.

Taking out each of her first two competitive starts, including the Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m), English finished second behind stablemate Vancouver in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) on March 21st and returned to the paddock following a luckless run for sixth in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes.

Fontiton claimed outright favouritism in Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) betting markets after winning each of the two lead-in events with complete ease, but was unlucky to be blocked for a run late and finished fifth.

Robert Smerdon has been thrilled with the way the Turffontein filly has taken to her time in the paddock and is confident of notable Spring Carnival success.

Lake Geneva posted several strong results for Team Hawkes through the Autumn Carnival and arguably offers punters the best value for money in early 2015 Thousand Guineas betting markets at current $10 odds.

Yet to break through for a race win but also yet to finish outside the first three in four career starts, the Fastnet Rock filly ran second in the Group 3 Widden Stakes (1100m) on debut; placing third in each of the Blue Diamond Stakes and Golden Slipper and returning to the paddock after placing third in the Group 3 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) on April 11th.
