2015 Thousand Guineas Off the Table for Jalan Jalan

August 31st, 2015

Trainer Colin Little has been thrilled with the results posted by talented three-year-old Jalan Jalan this time in, but has revealed she will return to the paddock with a view towards the 2015 Autumn Carnival, rather than target the 2015 Thousand Guineas (1600m).

Yet to finish outside the first three in four career starts, Jalan Jalan steadily worked her way towards the peak of betting markets for the 2015 Thousand Guineas before consolidating the top line when savaging the line for second in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) last time out on August 15th.

While pleased with the continually-building condition of the Foreplay filly through her debut preparation, Little told AAP Jalan Jalan returned to the paddock for a brief freshen-up following the Quezette Stakes and the team had decided to leave her there.

“We thought about it while she was having a week in the paddock and decided to leave her there,” Little said.

“She was in work prior to winter, raced all through winter, and to get to the Thousand Guineas I’d have to give her another two.

“So that would be May, June, July, August, September, and October – it’s too much.”

Jalan Jalan performed well in a handful of barrier trials prior to her competitive debut, and immediately stamped her claims as one to follow when charging home to take out the Wow Signal @ Swettenham Handicap (1000m) on May 20th.

Progressing to a credible third in the Ted Rainford Plate (1100m) following a brief freshen-up on Jul 4th, the filly out of Impinge arguably produced her most impressive result to date when beating a talent-rich field including the likes of subsequent two-time black type winner Gold Symphony to the line in the Flemington Family Handicap (1200m) by three lengths.

Jalan Jalan was available at odds of $8 for success in early 2015 Thousand Guineas betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au prior to her return to the paddock – Group 1 winner Pasadena Girl now outright favourite at a quote of $7 for success.
