Talented filly Foxplay has returned to racing in slick form this time and remains an outright $3.30 favourite in 2016 Thousand Guineas betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Global Glamour ($4.20) and Harlow Gold ($9.50).

Will Foxplay justify favouritism and win the 2016 Thousand Guineas, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

1st

Missrock ($11)

Robbie Laing has a big opinion of Missrock and the filly should receive a great run in the Thousand Guineas from barrier 9, with leading hoop Dwayne Dunn in the saddle. Debuting to racing for an impressive win in the Listed Debutant Stakes (1000m) at this meeting last year, the Fastnet Rock filly placed third in the Group 3 Emirates Airline Plate (1000m) before a luckless performance in the Listed Kingdom Stakes (1000m). Resuming this year for a strong win in the Group 3 Percy Sykes Stakes (12000m), Missrock has so-far placed sixth in each of the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) and Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m), and should relish a step up to a mile this weekend. Punters have already backed the filly well; seeing her quote in from opening odds of $16.

2nd

Foxplay ($3.30)

Foxplay is so-far undefeated this time, but has been running at the opposite way of going and could get lost in transit in the Thousand Guineas. Returning to the paddock after finishing second in the TAB.com.au Handicap (1400m), the Foxwedge filly resumed for a dominant win in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) before taking out the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 17th. Foxplay does have the notable advantage of Hugh Bowman in the saddle this weekend and her class is sure to count for a lot in the Thousand Guineas.

3rd

Harlow Gold ($9.50)

Harlow Gold is yet to contest a race at black type level, but the filly has more than earned her position in the Thousand Guineas field and will leave from the rails draw. Resuming for sixth in the Steriline Racing Maiden (1100m), the Tavistock filly has since posted dominant wins in each of the John Duff & Co Maiden (1400m) and National Jockey Trust Plate (1600m). Regan Bayliss has retained the ride on the filly, who has the ability to be right in the finish of the Thousand Guineas.
